Meet Dr. Jay M. Decoteau

Meet Dr. Decoteau | Meet the Staff
I am truly blessed to have a wonderful family, and to have a fulfilling profession consisting of a fabulous caring staff with terrific patients. My staff and I have thrived on making meaningful friendships with our patients and their parents through the years.
I love being an orthodontist because of the satisfaction I get in helping others grow by creating beautiful smiles and helping develop confidence in my patients. It is wonderful to participate in changing my patients’ lives in a very positive way.
Education and Experience
I graduated in 1982 from the University of Maine with high distinction and was elected to Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. I received my dental education at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine where I graduated cum laude in 1986, and was elected to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society which inducts only the top 10% of graduating dentists. I then pursued my specialty training at Tufts, completing my orthodontic residency in 1988. I expanded my practice into Merrimack, NH, in 1990.
I am currently a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Massachusetts Dental Society, New Hampshire Dental Society, and Northeast Society of Orthodontists, and am a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
The Value of Community
I am originally from Dunstable, Massachusetts, and attended Groton-Dunstable High School where I excelled academically and athletically. I have always loved this community and chose to return to Groton in 1988 after my training to establish my orthodontic practice and raise my family.
I am engaged in community, family and fun and I encourage my staff to participate as well. Our philosophy has always been to treat every patient as though he or she was our own child, parent, or sibling. I enjoy getting to know my patients and learning about their lives. I have developed state-of-the-art orthodontic practices based on family values in small town New England communities.
Outside the Office
I enjoy spending my free time with my wife, Lea, and our four children. I also enjoy my hobbies of playing basketball, golf, and tennis, as well as biking and boating.
